Today is a Monday Alarm goes off at 6am Today is Tuesday Up before the sun is again Mondays and Tuesdays are days that end with a "Y" Oh why oh why am I up On a day, on a day like today Today is a Wednesday This week is a grind The coffee is cold, my boss is all grumpy But I don't mind Today is a Wednesday, and that's a day that ends with a y Oh why oh why am I up On a day, on a day like today Today is a Friday Nope, today is a Thursday Did I take the trash out last night? I need a fresh cuppa coffee Why'd I have to stay up past 9? Today is a Thursday, not the Friday that I thought it was Oh why, oh why Am I up on a day on a day like today Oh why am I up, on a day like today Oh why oh why am I up today

when i'm feeling down, i cannot relax should i call a friend? would they even call me back? when i'm feeling down, sitting in the dark always in my head, tryin' to find my spark when i'm feeling down, i sometimes act a fool sitting in my room, nothin else to do should i send a text, what's best oooo i don't know, i don't know the soft glow of the screen, is staring back at me i wonder what it means, and can they see it too? searching for their name, the cursor blinking i'm overthinking, dont wanna be left on read i try to reach out, will we connect? feeling shakey, don't wanna break me when i look down, i see the supports don't wanna add my weight (but maybe it's too late) my phone on silent, too nervous to check what is their answer, will they call me back i don't want to be a bother, but i wanna reconnect and not feel rejected try to reach out, will we connect? feeling shakey, don't wanna break me when i look down, i see the supports don't wanna add my weight try to reach out, will we connect? feeling shakey, don't wanna break me when i look down, i see the supports today i'm gonna fight (maybe it's alright)

I thought I heard You in two voices I've been misunderstood I found you In two places Sundays ago I held on hoping But I felt more lost then It's hard to say When you left me It must have been my fault You're too bright to be Misunderstood Misconstrued Missing Still this remains I wish you'd leave me The fear you left behind An empty pew An empty chapel What's left when you're not here I thought it was my fault Now I start to wonder Cautiously Reaching down Human I walk alone, I walk with purpose I make my own path, I see new endings I am at home, I am at peace I am a sower, I plant a garden I am free and I am whole now I am, I am, I am I am a rock, I am a river I am, I am, I am I found your people, I took them with me I am, I am, I am I am a healer, I am healing I am, I am, I am I am, I am, I am

In the warmth and mug of the middle of summer there was a young boy in a chapel. The rows of pews, covered in cheap amber colored cushioning, were comforting and familiar. Stuck there as the adults in the room hung this and that for such and such an event bored but not so bored to want the heat outside. The stiff wooden backs of the rows of pews were uncomfortable at best and rigid at worst, often the boy would lay down across them flipping the pages of the nearest hymnal. The boy didn’t have time for the words from the ancient tomes and instead spent his time humming along with the AC unit and staring at either the strange symbols in the book or the fluorescent lights overhead. He swore he could make out new shapes in the stained glass windows, and would write stories about them and their beauty or gallantry or sorrow, cracked and imperfect as they were. The hours would flow by and the ceiling began to look unnervingly high, vaulting ever into the sky. And as the boys mind started to wander he began to fall fast asleep. And when he awoke the adults had become his peers and the stained glass no longer shined and he was no longer a boy. The whimsy and mystery had left him in his sleep. One last time he rose from the comfort of the pews and their amber upholstery. Walked away from the gentle hum of the AC and the coolness of the room and into the sunlight outside.

The sun is lookin bright outside I think I'm gonna go Put my feet upon the ground The grass and dirt beneath me Sends me where I'll never know But I know that I don't want to be found In through valleys, caverns Up to mountain tops we go Keeping up a steady pace I hear your footsteps by my side Through rock and brush unknown Together we can climb the sheerest face I will walk the winding path And I know the temptation to look back When the fog of war is all I see Just one step is good enough for me Woah When the world is bright and green And everyone agrees There is no strife to be found We can kick our legs up on the porch Watch the leaves and trees As the wind blows all around When the rain is comin down In hail and sleet or snow You can share in my umbrella Or maybe we'll just catch the rain and Let it fall to earth Singing songs in nature's a cappella I will walk the winding path And I know the temptation to look back When the fog of war is all I see Just one step is good enough for me Truly it's just you and me Facing down the enemies Of who and what we're 'sposed to be I swear they may all disagree But if you're standing next to me I know we can do anything Truly it's just you and me I swear they may all disagree Facing down our enemies But if you're standing next to me Wherever you and I may be No matter any boundary I know we can do anything I will walk the winding path And I know the temptation to look back When the fog of war is all I see Just one step is good enough for me Woah I will wait for the sun to rise I will look to see starlight in your eyes When the light brings our world into view With every step, I will walk with you With every step With every step I will walk with you

In the back yard there's a brick step And sittin on the step in the sun Baskin in the day and the warmth of the rays Waves crashing onto the shoreline The feeling of the sand in my toes The smell of the air and the wind in your hair It's my favorite place The pop of the needle on a record The dust on the stack of CDs The way that sway when our favorite track plays The seat on the couch that's all worn out The ratty old chair at your folk's A book, a beer, that homey time of year It's my favorite place Sunlight streaming through tree leaves Dirt covered trails to the docks Kicking our legs at the end of the pier Birds in the breeze, gently singin' Skies touching down on the hills Biking a path, the world flying past It's my favorite place The hum of the road underneathe me, The bumps of potholes unfilled, I steer with my knee, come sleep next to me The kitchen smells warm and inviting A table is set for a meal friends that we meet come sit down to eat It's our favorite place

The Rain 03:22
I wasn't planning on the rain I wasn't planning on the rain But it still came, it still came I wasn't ready for the storm I wasn't ready for the storm But it still came, and I'm still torn Oooo, don't fear the rain Oooo, don't fear the rain I used to know my name I used to know my name Was it all a dream, am I still the same? The clouds were once filled with peace The clouds were once filled with peace But not for me, at least not today Oooo, don't fear the rain Oooo, don't fear the rain Oooo I know I'm gonna be Here some days I'll take a moment to feel the rain

1, 2, 3 why don't you breathe with me Don't let go, I'll stay right here with you Take your time, we'll be fine, just take it slow, is there anything you need? What can you hear, love? What do you see? Feel on your skin when you reach out and touch? What can you smell? Does it have a taste? Remember what we do when it's too much It's too - Much It's too - Much Sit up tall, no need to speak at all Remember that time we drank wine down by the river The earth stood still, it was almost fall The wind was blowing, the air was crisp and clear Sleep well, love Sleep well Rest your head, close your eyes and trust This will only last a moment Sleep well, love Sleep well Remember what we do when it's too much It's too - Much - It's too - Much - Layered Chorus Part 1: What can you hear, love What do you see Feel on your skin when you reach out and touch? What can you smell? Does it have a taste? Remember what we do when it's too much Part 2: Sleep well, love Sleep well Rest your head, close your eyes and trust This will only last a moment Sleep well, love Sleep well Remember what we do when it's too much It's too - Much It's too - Much It's too - Much It's too - Much

I wish they all could see my purpose I'm just trying to be kind I know that all they see is nervous I'm just trying to speak my mind Getting caught up in the moments in between Tryin to use the best words to say what I mean What's so wrong with being earnest Excitement trips the word switch Clicks on awkward, spiral downward Why does it always end up like this Getting caught up in the phrasing Why do I try to even say things I lie awake at night reliving Every moment on repeat From the time I was in grade school To the conversations of last week I hope they dive beneath the surface And search deep and wide There's so much more that I can offer There's more confidence inside The trial and error, the right and wrong have exhausted me And the social consequence and all that it's cost me and all that it's lost me and the way that it exhausts me What's so wrong with being earnest It's a choice that I won't change I lift myself up from the pavement And take a step forward once again It doesn't matter what they think about Drop the armor, let your heart sing out Let the moment pass, let it fall away Some days my courage may fail, but not today
14.
My thoughts, they got more gentle They soften as we speak You've been teaching me how to forgive And outside may the wind blow The storm inside of me Gathers dust as I learn how to breathe And you soften me You soften me You soften me You soften me I've been girded up and guarded Your love brings down these walls I leave my insecurities and embrace my flaws And there you are to catch me And my heart made of concrete Crumbles into pebbles And runs across the creek You soften me You soften me You soften me You soften me Talk to me of pretty things The world's ugly enough We say the truth but let the kindness blanket over us And what it all comes down to Is that we don't know a thing But we don't know shit together And that's what makes souls sing Pacify what festers in my mind And you soften me You soften me You soften me You soften me You soften me My thoughts, they got more gentle They softened as we spoke You've taught me how to love and how to live when I'm alone You taught me to feel loved, and 'bout how I'm not on my own

My boss is telling me get back to the office How do I tell them I'm depressed and exhausted Have we all lost it Is it our time yet? I don't need to be in person to be productive Don't tell me what to do, I don't give a fuck Is it our time yet? I power on my television I can't contend with my indecision The pundits repeat What they've always said The politicians say the world's in trouble But the other guy will make it double Is it our time yet? Sometimes I feel like I'm the one in the middle Like I'm up on top of a roof with a fiddle Am I rich yet? Bidi bidi bidi bum. People all around me yellin bout tradition Maybe it's just love that we're all missin Is it our time yet? We've been watching and waiting For at least 84 damn years The economy's been percolatin To the worst of the economist's fears Day after day we're gettin sick and tired With so much of congress with their pants on fire Is it our time yet? Is it our time yet? Is it our time yet? Is it our time yet?

When you wake up in the mornin And you haven't had your coffee yet Your eyes are lookin sleepy All you wanna do is rest your weary head And go back to bed oooh x2 When we're layin' in the evenin' And the lights are turned down very low Restin' heads up on our shoulders When we finally have a sec to take it slow That's when I know It's in these moments I hear a melody Together we make a stronger harmony oooh Your love is like a symphony x2 When the bank account is empty But our time is full of laughter When we're miles away from home I know that I'm at home with you even after (even after) Any disaster oooh Your love is like a symphony x2 Your love your love your love, love Your love is like a symphony (Love, love, love talkin bout) (Love, love, love singin bout)

Softly do I think of you in the morning I bring you to mind Softly do I think of you in the evening as I am inclined Quietly do I speak of you as the morning comes rushing with noise Quietly do I speak of you as the evening drifts in and enjoys the peace here with you and me Together it's a kind of conversation I am happy we can have as the days turn into months turn into seasons into years i gladly stand by your side dreaming Sweetly do I dream of you when the darkness comes closing my eyes Sweetly do I dream of you in the light of your spirit I rise together it’s a kind of conversation I am happy we can have as the days turn into months turn into seasons into years i gladly stand by your side living

So many thanks to my friends Isaourzoo and Ooshloo for the incredible album artwork.

Ooshloo streams and is a photographer/maker and is incredible, check her out here: linktr.ee/ooshloo

Isaourzoo doesn't do social media because she's actually the wisest among us, but her design work is incredible and I appreciate her so much.

Special shoutouts to Celia Mae and Ilia Kate for lending me their songs for this album:

"You Soften Me" is a song originally written by Celia which I arranged for piano and two voices.

"Softly Do I" is a song written by Ilia that we had so much fun recording for this album, it is such a joy to be able to feature your writing as the send off track.

Thank you so much to the wonderful voices (both sung and spoken) that are on this album. You are all such incredible musicians and friends and I am so delighted that I got to do this with you.

And credit to my friends over on Twitch for helping me with lyrics for so many songs! Many of these lyrics were ideas that came straight from chat as we worked together on this album. It's definitely my favorite place. ;D
